Hi,
Posy has not been feeling well for the last while and her abdomen has become extended. She had gained about 5 pounds and was eating much less. So we have been seeing a series of five doctors with 7 or 8 tests over the last 4 weeks or more.
You know the routine, take the test and wait for ever for the results, etc.
We still don't know what's wrong, but we seem to be getting closer.
Her previous bout with lymphoma has been over five years now, so we hope it's not that.
She has had:
CA-125 blood test (normally 35 or less, hers was 286) mostly indicative of ovarian cancer but Posy has no ovaries. It could be peritoneal cancer, vaginal cysts, or even that she's pregnant. (ya right) This test is not very good for predicting cancers, but is used to track some patients during their treatment of many kinds of cancers (mostly ovarian or peritoneal).
Endoscopy (camera down the throat) found an ulcer in the stomach. May be from aspirin medication, stress, or a byproduct of lymphoma. Samples were taken of the ulcer and no lymphoma was found along with no infections etc.
CT Scan (over 85 photos) found liquid around her right lung and in her abdomen.
Removal of about 2 1/4 liters of fluid from the lung and abdomen (that's a lot for Posy). No cancer cells found in liquid (a good sign), but there was some mucus and a few unknown cell types (not a good sign).
Last Friday she went back in the CT Scan machine and had 3 samples taken of the peritoneum and a mass that was not found in the first CT Scan. We don't get the results of this last test until sometime this next week.
Posy is in some discomfort especially since the liquid seems to be returning to her abdomen, and she is eating a little less. But she is trying real hard to fight this, what ever it is.
We will keep you informed.
All our love,
Bob (and Posy)
