Hi Again,
Well as you know, Posy started her chemotherapy on Thursday. She rested Friday and felt pretty good, just tired. Saturday was good until the afternoon, when the chemo seemed to kick in full strength. She has been ill with symptoms similar to a very bad flu. This was not unexpected, however. I was able to get her to take some nourishment tonight and keep it down. The extra drugs seem to be helping her nausea and now she can take the pain and other pills to make her feel better.
Hopefully she will feel better in the morning after a good nights sleep and a little dinner (topped off with a tiny amount of ice cream and fresh blueberries).
To all of you that have sent flowers, cards and emails - Thank YOU. I am reading everything to her. She is too week and tired to respond, so I will try to help where and when I can. Just know that all your wishes and prayers are being received and that Posy and I are very thankful for all your kindnesses. For now she can only sit up for a few minutes before she gets exhausted and needs to rest.
Her abdomen and lung are still full of liquid from the cancer, and this doesn't help in the pain department. We are hoping that the chemo will decrease this side effect and let her be more comfortable. (She may have to be drained once or twice more according to the doctor. Posy says no, I say yes, and she says "only if they give me my designer drugs so I can't feel it and don't remember it." Of coarse my response is 'You bet ya, honey'. So we will wait and see how that goes.
Our next appointment with a doctor is not until the 27th to check her blood chemistry to see how badly her white cell count is down from the chemo drugs. Unless she needs a drain job or gets an infection or fever (hopefully not). We are keeping close tabs on all that.
