Hi Everyone,
Here's the latest on Posy.
We went for her second chemo on Monday. The treatment itself was better than the first time. She had no allergic reactions and was comfortable sitting in a chair this time. (A bed was not available, but was not necessary.) The only problem that occurred was that the IV was blocked for a time by a problem with her vain, so the liquid created a knot about the size of a walnut in her arm before it was noticed. They started a new IV and continued the process.
The day after the treatment was pretty good, but by Tuesday night the chemo drugs caught up with her. She spent most of Wednesday and Thursday in bed, feeling pretty sick.
Ryc (Posy's son) and Penny arrived from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Wednesday afternoon for a visit.
Yesterday I called the Doctor to get a report on the CA-125 levels. This is a blood test that is used to measure the level of cancer in her body. He told me that her levels have not changed from the beginning. He expected a dramatic drop in these levels to indicate that the chemo is doing the job. So far it doesn't seem to be. He did say that some people have a slow start and suggested that we do another CA-125 level test next week. So I have scheduled the test for Tuesday and should get the report on her next doctor's appointment of Thursday. If the levels are still up, we will be discussing other methods of treatment with the doctor.
Today (Friday) Posy had a pretty good night and restful sleep. Although she is still asleep, I hope that today will be a good one for her. If it's like here previous chemo, today should be a good day. (She has lost about half of her hair and is disappointed about that.)
Well, that's all for now.
Love to all.
Bob
