Posy's Cancer Report
September 9, 2000

Hi Everyone,

Here's a quick report on Posy. She was scheduled to have her second Gemzar chemo on Friday along with an Epogen injection to help increase her red blood count. We went as scheduled to the doctor and he ran the normal blood tests as he always runs before the chemo. He found that Posy is still anemic (red count down) but slightly better than the last test (probably helped by the Epogen). He also found that her white count was very low. (White cells fight infections.) They were down some from the previous Taxol and Carboplatin chemo and apparently dropped considerably since her first Gemzar treatment a week ago. Because her white count was so low, the doctor cancelled her chemo for Friday and we rescheduled her next attempt for Wednesday. The doctor wanted to get some more time in so her body could increase its white cell count before knocking it down again with another Gemzar treatment. Posy was a little disappointed because she didn't get her 'steroids' that really starts her engines running in high speed. Although she is a little tired, she is currently feeling pretty well. Much better than with the previous chemo. At least she is able to mentally fight better now that she feels a little better. As I have said before, we won't know anything about the progression of her unknown cancer for another couple of weeks when they can test her blood and do another CT scan. These tests may be delayed also because of the delay in the administration of the Gemzar treatment. She did get another Epogen on Friday to help the red cells even though we didn't do the Gemzar chemo.

So that's it for now. No real news or reports, just hurry up and wait.

I'll let you know more when I find out anything new.

Bob
