Posy's Cancer Report
September 23, 2000

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick note about Posy. Last Thursday, she went in to have her abdomen and right lung drained. They found that there was not enough liquid in her abdomen to drain, however they removed almost a full liter of liquid from around her right lung. It has been almost 2 months since her lung had been drained. Although the procedure was painful and they had to enter the area in two locations, she is breathing much better now. It only bothers her when she takes a deep breath. That should clear up in a day or two as the incision cures.

Posy had her third Gemzar chemo the following Friday (yesterday). The treatment when well. The doctor reported that her white count was sufficient to continue with Friday's chemo. He also indicated that the red count was still low and to continue with the Epogen to help increase her white count. He also reported on the CA-125 test that was done last week. It is within one point of the same as the previous two tests over the last month. So, while switching to Gemzar has not created an increase chemical cancer reaction, it hasn't dropped it either. He did indicate that Gemzar may take 7 or 8 treatments before the CA-125 shows results. Next week he will take another CA-125 and see if things are better. Another CT Scan will be in the works in the coming weeks also to check the physical sizes and compare with previous CT Scans of the cancer lesions.

Thanks to all of you for hanging in there with us.

Bob
