Posy's Cancer Report
September 3, 2000

Hello again,

Lots has happened since our last report, but without going into too much detail I'll give you an update. We have discussed Posy's options with many of the medical field and they all say that the only chance available might be some more chemo or a chemo clinical trial if available (the chances of any of these continued treatments working are 10% or less with very high toxic effects). We went to another oncologist the other day and before leaving Posy indicated that she could not take any more chemo. With that in mind, there are no other medical alternatives available to us from the standard medical field. We will be using our own 'powers' to make Posy feel as comfortable as possible, but that is our only choice. We don't know how long Posy has, but the doctors all indicate that she qualifies for hospice which indicates less than 6 months. Posy's last chemo was on October 13 and since then she has started to feel better. She still has some equilibrium problems, but we are changing some of her medications that may help this. Although there is pain and nausea from the cancer, she does feel better now than when she was on chemo.

Posy is looking forward to Thanksgiving when lots (around 20) of our relatives will be here for celebrations. We are also looking into getting some help for her so that she can try to finish up some of the writing that she wants to complete. We have tried to adjust her medications so that she will not have chemo brain and can complete what she would like.

Telephone to Posy is probably best if you want to communicate as she doesn't get much chance to look over email at this time.

Thanks for all your support.

We love you all.

Bob & Posy
