Well, here's our next report.
Since our last entry, Thanksgiving has come and gone. We had 23 relatives and friends by for Thanksgiving and a good time was had by all. I decided to take a picture of each of us with the Smart Web In A Box 'Geek Hat' delicately place upon the head of each poor slob (oh and glasses too). The pictures are displayed below. You may click on each picture to get a larger version. Posy had a good time visiting with one and all, but retired early as she was pretty poohed after the several days of preparations and the big dinner. (Although she does look great in the pictures below!) I didn't get a chance to take any other pictures with everyone, but I have been promised copies from everyone that did. I'll post some of those next time after I get them in hand.
As I indicated in our last note, Posy has signed up for Hospice. They provide services for people that have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and have less than six months of time remaining (as prognosticated by the doctor). The nurse has been very helpful, and we continue to modify the medications that we give Posy. Although Posy has been in bed about 75% of the time since Thanksgiving, today seems to be a pretty good day for her. She has her good and bad days and nights. This is not easy for any of us, but hardest on Posy!
The last few days have been kind of tuff and we have decided to send Pace home for a while. He has been helping us with our construction on the Master Bathroom, but the noise and commotion has been just too much for Posy. So he will head home to Salt Lake City for a while and return to complete the bathroom a little later. He has pretty much finished the Fountain out front. Last week he finished the pavers around the fountain and added some flood lights for dramatic night lighting. He even added some granite rocks to the top level so that the birds in the neighborhood could come by and have a bath each morning as long as the fountain was not turned on. They seem to like their new bath. They come around and fling water all over the place until the top is empty to the rocks. It's really fun to watch them have their way with the top pool.
Posy's hair is starting to grow back now that the chemo ended back on October 13th. It's about 1/2" long and mostly gray in the front, but she has lots of color on the back (where she can't see it).
I don't have much more to report for now. We try to make Posy feel as comfortable as possible and the pain and nausea medications have been adjusted (increased) to make her feel better, hopefully without feeling too dopey. The edema in her legs has gone down from extra medications (no more Miss Piggy feet) and time in bed with her legs up.
Posy is currently working in bed on her writing today and feeling pretty good.
Well, it's noon, so I'm going to go fix her some 'lunch'.
